Singer Law Group, P.A. was founded in 2017 by David Singer. David worked for several years at the international law firm of Holland & Knight, LLP, where he built his local government, land use, real estate, and alcohol beverage licensing practice.

David has worked on projects in a variety of industries, including retail, commercial, residential, mixed-use, waste, gaming, academic, health care, and entertainment/restaurant. When working with clients to gain public approvals for projects, a combination of industry knowledge, familiarity and comfort with process and procedure along with a measured flexibility and ability to adapt to changing circumstances have led to consistent success.

David is invested in Tampa Bay and believes in giving back to the community. In addition to significant pro bono representations, David is involved in many civic and charitable organizations and gives back to his schools as well.

David B. Singer
Partner & Founder

David B. Singer is a partner and founder of Singer Law Group, P.A. David works with clients seeking to do business both in the private and public sectors and counsels clients on the proper strategies for successful interactions with city and county government agencies and officials. He represents clients before city and county entities on a wide range of issues, including zoning, land use, comprehensive planning, economic incentive eligibility, developments of regional impact, land development and permitting issues and issues relating to Community Development Districts.

In addition, David has a broader practice of assisting clients in securing the necessary government approvals for controversial projects at the federal, state and local levels. David works with clients to better understand their ultimate business and legal objectives, forming strategies that are both efficient and effective. He acts as an adviser during the initial stages of projects and as an implementer during the course of the approval process. David works with corporations across the country to ensure compliance with local regulations and customs, and coordinates project teams that give projects their best chance at success. He undertakes representation of corporations in front of local, state and federal bodies, and works with clients to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

David also works with groups, boards and other agencies with frequent government interaction in areas relating to responding to government issued RFPs, public funding and grants, public finance, media relations and issues related to litigation and dispute resolution.

Sometimes, litigation becomes the only remaining option to adequately resolve a controversy. David represents clients in state and federal courts and counsels clients to work toward sensible resolutions that fit with their overall business goals and objectives.

Some of David’s other projects include:

  • Assisting with the re-entitlement of mixed-use designated property to allow for the expansion of the USAA facility in Hillsborough County that created over 1,000 new jobs.
  • Working with entrepreneurs on business formation, strategy and real estate acquisition.
  • Successfully litigating against the City of Tampa on behalf of a restaurant owner wrongfully denied a liquor license.
  • Working with start-up breweries on permitting, site selection, capital infusion and corporate formation.
  • Redrafting and securing a privately initiated text amendment to the Hillsborough County Land Development Code to allow for a “Mixed-Use Development” designation.
  • Assisting a residential development group in amending a comprehensive plan and siting a new multifamily development, including the coordination of a team of planners and engineers.
  • Successfully litigating to set aside a fraudulent foreclosure sale against a national bank.
  • Working with state and local governments to secure economic incentives for a client’s corporate relocation.
  • Rezoning the historic Fort Homer Hesterly Armory in Tampa for repurpose as a community center.

David is married to Allison Willis Singer, an attorney, an educator and the founder of Seek and Find Wellness headquartered in Tampa. They have two daughters: Alexis, born in 2011, and Chloe, born in 2015.
